There Is Power In The Name of Jesus

“There is power in the name of Jesus.”

If we believe that Christ came into the world to do something transformative for our lives, then we believe in that power.  He put that power on display for us, as Biblical history records it, to save, to heal, to raise the dead, to forgive sin, to reconcile us to God.  But too often it seems that we believe in His “past power” without an intersection for “current power ” in our day-to-day lives.   We don’t believe He is willing or able to do something for us Today.  We fail to apprehend the power of God for the present.  We don’t make room for God.  Perhaps it is distraction and the cares of the world that keep us in a dulled down state.   But perhaps it is in crisis, that we reawaken to the need for that power in our lives.

Last summer, in the midst of alot of physical pain, I had a blocked up sink and called a handyman acquaintance for some help.  Despite not feeling well, I became energized as we started talking and discovered we had the same faith in a Living Christ.  He shared with me a song, I had never heard before,  that carries a divine frequency .  I have played it many many times since then and have become  “drunk in the Spirit”  each time it plays.  It carries that “electricity” that anyone would recognize who has experienced the manifest presence of God.  It is a song that Charismatics might call “anointed.”   Despite being pretty simple and repetitive, it’s a song that invokes the Name.   And that is what makes all the difference.

There really is Power in the name of Jesus.
